The Oak Hill house plan designed by one of Wilmington’s most award-winning home designers, Scott Sullivan with SDC House Plans, a division of Sullivan Design Company, has been selected by HGTV and built by Charter Building Group in Wilmington’s River Bluff community as the HGTV Smart Home 2022.
On April 1, HGTV revealed Wilmington as the location for the 2022 HGTV Smart Home Giveaway in which one lucky participant will win the beautiful 2-story, 2,869 square foot 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with all the furnishings. Scott Sullivan has won countless awards for his house designs, which can be found from the Smoky Mountains and coastal North Carolina to the Florida coast. His plans have been featured in Southern Living and Coastal Living magazines, have won several Best of Houzz awards, and one of his plans was a finalist in the 2019 HGTV Ultimate House Hunt.
Sullivan submitted three plan designs to HGTV, and they chose the Oak Hill found here. This coastal retreat is a two-story modern cottage sitting at over 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and a two-car garage.
Upon entering the home, the foyer leads into the office painted in rich charcoal on the walls and ceiling. The state-of-the-art kitchen is designed with chic green cabinets and bronze hardware, as well as a large island with seating for four, adjacent to a full dining area.
The bright and airy living room includes a fireplace and wet bar. The main bedroom is located on the first floor and is designed with natural, earthy tones with black trim, as well as an en-suite bathroom and private patio. The upstairs is home to two guest bedrooms, each designed with nods to Wilmington’s coastal lifestyle, as well as a guest bathroom and a playroom that opens onto a deck. The backyard is an entertainer’s dream with a beautiful pool and pergola, a fire pit, as well as a back deck with multiple seating areas and an outdoor kitchen.
Smart solutions are located throughout the home, with a focus on the kitchen, the outdoor space, the garage, the playroom, and the laundry room. Home automation voice commands are available to control features throughout the home. The home is wired throughout with gigabit fiber with fully automated energy-efficient appliances, heating, and air controls, home security, and entertainment system accessibility 24/7/365 from anywhere in the world.
