Genelec, a leading global provider of professional audio monitoring solutions, has expanded its UNIO Audio Monitoring Service Platform by introducing the 9401A System Management Device for Audio-over-IP Networking. This device enhances Genelec’s range of Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers with powerful AoIP connectivity in ST2110, AES67, and Ravenna formats. The 9401A, a 1U rack-mountable unit, offers 16 monitor outputs supporting formats from stereo to 9.1.6, bringing the convenience and flexibility of multi-channel networked audio to the UNIO platform.
Designed as a partner to Genelec’s Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers, the 9401A provides 16 channels of digital connectivity, along with dedicated subwoofer and auxiliary stereo outputs via AES/EBU. The auxiliary output is ideal for headphone feeds, supporting binaural and secondary stereo loudspeaker monitoring. Integrated tightly with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software, the 9401A enables system calibration, subwoofer alignment, and bass management.
In addition to AoIP networking, the 9401A supports loudspeaker management and calibration through GLM network connectivity. The device’s subwoofer output facilitates easy chaining of Smart Active Subwoofers to enhance low-frequency SPL output. Channel capacity can be expanded rapidly with an additional 9401A devices, accommodating high channel count immersive formats like 22.2.
Performance-wise, the 9401A is compatible with sample rates ranging from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz, offering 16, 24, and 32-bit resolution per sample. Using Gigabit Ethernet for low latency, the device supports the ST2110 broadcast suite with ST2022-7 redundant network connectivity and NMOS integration to enterprise management and automation systems. Built to the highest environmental standards at Genelec’s factory in Finland, the 9401A incorporates proprietary Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology for lower power consumption.
