Cologne’s Da’s Lupo restaurant, known for its Mediterranean flavours and owned by restaurateur Gabriel Zanchetti, has enhanced its dining atmosphere with a state-of-the-art audio system. The new system, recommended by AV specialists Starpoint, integrates Optimal Audio technology to meet the restaurant’s specific needs.
The restaurant spans two floors, with a large dining area split into two zones and a separate bar. The lower level features a function room complete with a dancefloor. Music plays a pivotal role in the dining experience, and Da’s Lupo required an audio system that could meet three key demands: customisability for each area, intuitive and simple operation for staff, and exceptional sound quality across the entire venue.
Starpoint installed an Optimal Audio system featuring four Cuboid 5 and Cuboid 6 loudspeakers on the main floor, powered by two 2 x 350W Amp 100 amplifiers. In the basement event space, four Cuboid 8 speakers and a passive Sub 15 subwoofer create a club-like atmosphere, with two 2 x 1,350W Amp 300 amplifiers driving the system. The Zone 8 system is managed via a ZonePad 4 wall controller, allowing staff to easily control volume levels across the restaurant.
The ZonePad 4’s intuitive design has significantly simplified the operation for Da’s Lupo’s staff. Inga Schmitz, Service Manager adds, “Since the upgrade, we’ve had no issues with volume control in different areas. The ZonePad 4 is easy to use, and can even be controlled remotely via the WebApp.”
The new system has also set a higher standard for sound quality, delivering clear, full-range audio even at low volumes, enhancing the comfort of both staff and guests. Sönke Klan from Starpoint emphasized, “The main advantage of the new system is the simplicity of operation, with individual volume control for different zones. The system offers discreet yet rich sound throughout the restaurant.”
