Samsung’s SmartThings and IKEA Team Up to Elevate Smart Home Experiences

Samsung SmartThings and IKEA have announced a groundbreaking integration via the Matter Bridge. This new feature simplifies the smart home experience by enabling seamless connectivity between SmartThings’ extensive ecosystem and IKEA’s Home smart devices.

IKEA shoppers can now effortlessly connect their IKEA smart devices to the SmartThings platform using the Matter Bridge integration. This feature allows users to import their existing IKEA smart home setups into SmartThings with just a few clicks. Existing SmartThings and IKEA users can now enjoy the benefits of both platforms simultaneously.

This integration enhances control and automation options while preserving the unique features of the IKEA DIRIGERA hub, such as direct remote binding to light or shade, which improves responsiveness and user experience. Users can also enjoy dynamic control, such as gradually increasing light levels by pressing and holding a dimmer button.

Additionally, Samsung users shopping at IKEA can now incorporate IKEA’s affordable and stylish smart devices into their SmartThings ecosystem. This opens up new possibilities for expanding their smart home setup with IKEA’s products while benefiting from SmartThings’ advanced features and integrations.

Jeffrey Gowan, Head of Smart Home Business, SmartThings, says “The Matter Bridge integration with IKEA represents a major step forward in enhancing the smart home experience. By combining the extensive capabilities of SmartThings with IKEA’s innovative products, we are providing users with greater flexibility and ease of use, allowing them to create a more connected and automated home.”

Marcus Engman, Chief Design Officer, IKEA, “We are excited about our partnership with SmartThings and the launch of the Matter Bridge integration. This development allows IKEA customers to seamlessly integrate their smart home devices with SmartThings, enhancing their overall experience and providing them with a more cohesive and user-friendly smart home environment.”
